Our Summer Scholarship Program Supports Local Students

Each Spring, CDG awards scholarships to area elementary school children aged Kindergarten to 7th grade to help them attend summer extracurricular activities. Children write an essay or draw a picture about what diversity means to them, and the older children commit to participating in community service. The awards are celebrated at an annual Scholarship Dinner on the third Friday in May. CDG has annually awarded up to 50 scholarships of around $300 each for summer classes including park district camps, music lessons, sports and more.

Children in grades Kindergarten through 7th residing in select La Grange area school districts (102, 105 and 106) are eligible for this program. Applications may be obtained from school social workers and family liaison staff in these districts in January.

  • District 102 (Park and feeder schools) – see your family liaison/social worker
  • District 105 (Gurrie and feeder schools) – see your family liaison/social worker
  • District 106 (Pleasantdale) – see your social worker

To qualify for a scholarship, each student must write an essay about what diversity means to them. Additionally, students currently enrolled in 5th – 7th grade must contribute at least four hours of community service at a facility such as a nursing home, hospital, church, library or nonprofit organization. CDG is proud to be making a positive difference in the lives of our community’s young people.
